Ballard Spahr LLP a national law firm with over 650 lawyers in 15 offices across the country is seeking a tax accountant to prepare and oversee the tax filings for clients of our Private Client Services practice. The tax accountant must have substantial experience in the preparation of Federal, State and Local tax returns, including in particular fiduciary, individual and partnership tax returns, partnership accounting, and in calculating individual estimated tax payments. The selected individual will keep abreast of relevant tax law developments and changes.
Substantial tax return preparation skills; excellent communication skills, strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills; a keen attention to detail and accuracy; ability to establish a good rapport with clients; and the ability to set priorities and manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and have a minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs;
- Experience reviewing and supervising the work of others in the preparation of tax returns is required;
- CPA or enrolled agent is preferred but applicants with extensive experience will be considered; and
- Knowledge of ProSystems also preferred, as well as ability to master new software as needed.
Must be willing to accept responsibilities that may demand a commitment of more than 40 hours per week, particularly in peak seasons. A flexible schedule is available during non-peak seasons. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
